It was during a fateful visit to St. Thomas that she encountered the four-legged souls who would become the catalysts for her life's work.

Lorena's heart ached as she witnessed the plight of the animals at the local humane society. Their eyes held tales of abandonment, pain, and longing, resonating deep within her soul. Determined to make a difference, Lorena returned to St. Thomas a few months later, armed with a fiery determination to give these innocent creatures the second chance they deserved.

From the sandy shores of the Caribbean to the bustling streets of Boston, Lorena began her quest to bring hope and happiness to the lives of these precious dogs. The journey was not without its challenges, as the world was thrown into chaos by the COVID-19 pandemic. Travel restrictions forced Lorena to temporarily halt her noble mission, leaving her heart heavy with the unfinished stories of those she had hoped to save.

But heroes never fade away; they gather strength and rise. In August 2022, Lorena turned the pages of her own story and embarked on a new chapter by founding "Paws, Pets & Prayers Rescue Inc." The path to success was paved with countless forms and license applications, but Lorena's indomitable spirit persevered. Finally, on a poignant Good Friday morning in 2023, Lorena received the long-awaited final certification, breathing life into her dream.

Since its humble beginnings, Paws, Pets & Prayers Rescue Inc. has become a beacon of hope for countless animals in need. Lorena's unwavering dedication and passion have led to the successful rehoming of over 500 animals since 2013, with more than 380 dogs finding their forever homes during the challenging times of the pandemic.

This remarkable organization now extends its reach far beyond the shores of St. Thomas. Lorena and her team have opened their hearts and their doors to dogs from Puerto Rico and within Massachusetts, recognizing that love knows no boundaries.
